So far I’ve done all my knives with hand tools exclusively. While it works; this method is very time consuming. It was fine when I was just experimenting, or making a gift for a friend or family member, but now I have several would-be customers waiting on me. So it’s time for an upgrade. With that in mind I’m going to be taking a short (hopefully) break from knifemaking to build the knifemaker’s bread and butter tool…a 2×72 belt grinder. I could shorten my break by buying one, but they start at about a grand and go up from there. So, I’m trying to build one. If it doesn’t work I still might end up buying one, but even if it does work there is going to be a period of adjustment as I learn how to use it. Thank you to those of you waiting on knives for your patience. I promise I’ll try to make it worth the wait. Have a great morning/afternoon/evening/night.
