Things are Weird…Right?

I mean…it seems like craziness is happening nonstop this year, and if you’re paying attention to the news that’s not being shouted at you by all the major news outlets 24/7 it’s even crazier. I’m not a news outlet, though, so I’ll just say I hope you are all well in the midst of insanity.

As for me, I’m one of the lucky ones. I got to continue working at my full time job with only a minimal reduction in hours for about a month. The knife shop is, as ever, my happy place. I don’t get to spend nearly as much time in there as I’d like, but I’m trying to remedy that by blocking out some more time during the week reserved just for NMK.

There have been a few additions to the shop… The most exciting being my Paragon Heat Treating oven. This bad boy can ramp up over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, and more importantly, can hold very specific temperatures for extended periods of time. This let’s me start using more complex steels. As a result I’m making the switch from 1084 high carbon to 52100 high carbon, and I plan to delve into some stainless at some nonspecific point in the future.

Another big piece of news. I was interviewed on a podcast!  I thought that was pretty cool. It’s called Food Afield with John Schneider. Before you ask… Not Bo Duke…I asked 🤣.

Lastly, I’m working on getting out my first round of merch as I write this. I’m doing T-shirts for sure, and am trying to work out a deal for some hats and koozies. If you are interested feel free to contact me. It may be too late to get in on this batch, but I can probably get you in on the next batch.

Well that’s it for now. I hope this finds you all well. Wherever you are good morning/afternoon/evening/night,
North Mountain Knives
